Wyldlife FAQs
The burning questions most parents ask!
Is there a cost for my teenager to attend Wyldlife Clubs/Hangouts?
We do not charge a membership fee to participate in Young Life / Wyldlife.
We are a Registered Canadian Charity (119306918RR0001) and we exist because of generous donors who partner with us throughout the year. If you have a teenager who is actively participating in Young Life / Wyldlife events, or support our cause in general, we do graciously appreciate any financial support you can give. You can make a donation anytime online through our secure online donation form.
What time does Club/Hangout start on Tuesday?
Unless otherwise stated, clubs and hangouts will start at 7:02 PM on Tuesday’s.
Where do I drop my teenager off for Club?
We’ve been graciously donated space by The Livingroom Contemplative Center.
Located above the Beans & Barley Cafe at 1444 – 102nd Ave, Dawson Creek.
Use the stairs to the left side of the Beans & Barley building entrance. YL Club is upstairs.
What time and where do I pickup my teenager after club?
Pickup at 8:30ish PM at McDonald’s after Club Nights
Unless otherwise stated, we always go to McDonald’s (or another Fast Food place) after club for snacks. We encourage your teen to bring a few extra dollars for snacks if they want any. We play games, talk, and just hangout after club. Parents please arrange to pickup your teens by 8:30 PM.
If a teenager doesn’t have a ride, we are always happy to help with rides. We don’t want any teen to miss a club/hangout night just because they don’t have a ride to or from our event that evening. So contact one of our leaders and we will be sure to arrange a safe pickup/drop-off.
Why are your volunteers contacting my teenager?
We are a relational ministry and we’re all about building relationships with our teenaged friends. This means, on occasion, our leaders will reach out to the teens and ask them to come hangout with us. They may watch a movie, play video games, board games, go to the local hockey game, or some other kind of adventure.
If at any time you have concerns, we encourage you to reach out to Bryce Wisekal (1-250-467-2787) and we can discuss those further. We always use “Plan to Protect” in all instances, and the safety of both our volunteers and teens is our top priority. We also always want to respect the parents, and so we’ll gladly work along side you first.
My daughter/son came home talking about a Young Life Summer Camp?
Every summer we take teenagers to our summer camp called Rockridge Canyon. We talk a lot about summer camp, as do the teenagers who have gone! It’s literally the “best week of their lives!” many of them will say on return, and we’re quite proud of that fact!
We go to summer camp 2 times a year based on the number of teens we have who are signed up, and according to their ages (we have Wyldlife Camp for Grades 6-8 and we have Young Life Camp for Grades 9-12). Dates will vary on the year, but it’s always mid-July, and early August.
There is a registration cost associated with signing up for camp, but beyond that cost, we hope the Teenagers and their Families will help in fundraising their way to camp. We do help! Though we also encourage the teens to own this responsibility, to be creative and along the way ask for help.
We will be sending home information, but if you’ve not received information yet about camp, please be sure to reach out to one of our leadership members and ask them for more details.
